Red light therapy works best when it is applied to bare, clean skin. Clothing, makeup, face powder, henna, oils, and lotions can block and scatter light. We will provide you with privacy to undress. Some clients prefer to go completely unclothed, and others prefer to leave their underwear and bra on.
It is best to not have eaten a large meal within an hour prior to arriving for your red light session.
Staying extra hydrated will be important the day of and day after your session.

Distance: You will be lying down with the panels above you at least 6-12 inches away for the best coverage. Getting too close to a device will prevent the wavelengths from mixing as they come into contact with the skin. This essentially cancels out the benefits of stimulating the mitochondria with multiple wavelengths simultaneously.
Being too far away can also reduce the intensity of the treatment.
Length: Typical length of a session is 15-20 minutes of red light therapy, followed by 10 minutes of vibration therapy.
Vibration Therapy: After each session, we do encourage clients to get on the vibration machine (if not contraindicated) for 10 minutes to support lymphatic drainage and detoxification.
Eye Protection: A set of goggles are provided for eye protection during treatment. These can be used by anyone who is concerned about excessive light exposure to the eyes, although the idea of the treatment is not to stare directly at the diodes but rather to get red light exposure to as much of the skin as possible.

Red Light Therapy Is a Safe, FDA-Cleared Treatment
Many people ask if red light therapy, and specifically NIR light, is safe and if there are any side effects or contraindications.
When used as directed, red/NIR light therapy is safe. Some people may experience temporary tightness and redness of the skin, which is most likely due to increased blood flow to the area. Near-infrared light therapy is FDA-cleared based on numerous studies. That means the benefits outweigh the risks when used as intended. Red light therapy, as mentioned, has no known side effects. The scientific community considers it a safe modality for treating a wide variety of physical conditions including:

Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain are a few other uses for NIR light.

Yes, there are a few conditions where red light therapy could be unsafe including:
Pacemaker: if you have a pacemaker, RLT is contraindicated
Pregnancy: There's limited research on the effects of RLT during pregnancy, so it's often recommended to avoid use as a precaution.
Cancer: Patients with cancer, especially skin cancer, should consult their doctor before using RLT. Although some studies suggest RLT can help in reducing side effects of cancer treatments, there are concerns about its use directly over any known cancerous lesions.
Photosensitivity: Individuals who have conditions that make them sensitive to light, such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or Porphyria, should avoid RLT or consult their healthcare provider before use.
Medications causing light sensitivity: Some medications, including certain antibiotics, antipsychotics, benzodiazepines, diuretics, and cancer treatments can cause heightened photosensitivity. Patients on these medications should consult healthcare professionals to avoid potential adverse reactions.
Eyes: Direct exposure of intense light to the eyes can be harmful. Although RLT is not typically harmful to the eyes, it's generally advised to use protective eyewear during treatments.
Tattoos: RLT can cause tattoos to heat up more than the surrounding skin, potentially leading to discomfort. It’s advisable to avoid direct exposure over tattooed areas.
Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting new treatments, especially if you have pre-existing conditions or concerns. RLT providers should also have a detailed understanding of these contraindications to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the therapy for each individual.

The results of red light therapy can take from several weeks to several months. However, regular treatment may also make the body more resilient during periods of recovery from exercise and/or injury.
Red light therapy typically requires at least a few weeks before results are seen. During this time, it’s important to keep up regular treatment.
It works at the cellular level. Once individual cells are treated and their function is restored, the body needs time for the effects to become evident.
Doing red light therapy once in a while won’t yield great results. For optimal results, clients should try to have sessions of up to 20 minutes, 3-4 days per week, at very least 2 times.
